No Fly List Is Wrong
It's unconstitutional. The Fifth Amendment says, in part, "(…)nor
shall any person be subject for the same offence to be twice put in
jeopardy of life or limb; nor shall be compelled in any criminal case
to be a witness against himself, nor be deprived of life, liberty, or
property, without due process of law; (…)" The
No Fly List does just that; it deprives a citizen of the right to fly
on an airplane, which deprives them of the right to leave the
country, or to travel within the country in a timely manner. all
WITHOUT "due process of law." A person's name can be put on
the list without ANY due process, at the WHIM of a bureaucrat or
politician, and they are not even told when their name is put on the
list. They find out the next time they try to travel by plane, and
there is NO "appeal process."
Once your name is on the list,
for ANY reason, or NO reason,
it is impossible to get it removed.
Worse yet, the list is also used to deprive citizens whose names are
put on the list of the right to own a gun for self defense. It's one way
to "get around the law" and BAN guns for people some
politician or bureaucrat somewhere doesn't like. This is patently
unconstitutional. (Don't Step On Snek)
