How NOT to Do It

HOW NOT TO DO IT: Ferguson, MO is a good “seminar” on how NOT to handle things when they start to get out of hand. First, don't “agree with” the demonstrators.” Second, don't let them run wild for a time to “let them blow off steam.” It can only grow from there as they begin to think nobody's going to oppose them. Then there's their poor community/police relations, ineffective communications between the more than 50 police agencies, and “military style” police tactics that just irritated the thugs who came there from all corners of the country to “run the riots.” They misread the whole thing, thinking it would “all die down quickly.” They didn't count on the professional agitators like race whores Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson coming to town to further inflame the “demonstrators,” accompanied by paid demonstrators, some with guns to trick the cops into shooting. And then to declare the cop to be innocent with no explanation, allowing him to just resign and leave town was a mistake, too. Having a mostly white police department in an area mostly black wasn't the best of ideas—which I give them some credit for changing AFTER the riots. As in Baltimore, they did everything wrong. And they are now suffering for it, having excessively high crime rates since then, because the thugs think they've won. And they have, to an extent. They've forced them to elect many more black council members and hire more black cops—which may be a good thing—after the fact. At least, unlike Baltimore, they didn't have a fool woman prosecutor who “rushed in” before all the facts were in and indict a bunch of innocent cops for something the thug did to himself by accident. And she never learns her lesson. she's still trying to prosecute them. (Mail News)
