"Business As Usual?"

I don't think the killing of that police lieutenant in Illinois is part of the “war on cops.” Unless the call he was responding to was a phony, to get him to come where there were three killers waiting and ready to kill a cop. It might just be that he came upon a crime in progress and got surprised by the criminals committing the crime, who may or may not have somehow gotten hold of his gun and killed him with it. A key point is that only ONE of those sought in the killing is black. The other two are white. It does seem like they may have just been in the middle of a crime when discovered by this cop and managed to overpower him, since he was alone and they were three. That doesn't spell “execution because he was a cop” to me, though that might have been PART of it, at least on the part of the black member of the gang. (Newser)
