Cruel and Unusual Punishment

There's a constitutional prohibition against “cruel and unusual punishment.” Apparently that's news to the EPA, which just levied a $16 MILLION dollar fine on one farmer for having the temerity to build a small, earthen dam on his own property without coming to them, “hat in hand,” and asking permission from some nameless, faceless bureaucrat to do something that SHOULD be HIS decision. A bureaucrat who has NO financial or personal interest in his farm. This in spite of a court decision putting such things “on hold.” They just IGNORED that. That this will RUIN this farmer and allow his family to starve—unless, in their “fairness,” they allow him to go on welfare, which will mean he, and his family will then be fully dependent on the government for even their daily bread. This is an excellent example of how this government TRAMPLES honest people these days. This USED to be a free country. Not any more. If he fails to pay, they'll probably send a SWAT Team to take his property at gunpoint. And if he opposes them, they'll KILL him.. The EPA thinks it can control every mud puddle in the country, from whatever source. If I pee on the ground, they'll probably try to control what's left on the ground. (Hot Air)
