"Is It Christian to Waterboard?"
The pundits are asking if it's christian to waterboard. Have you
looked back through history and seen what “Christians” have done
to people in the name of their religion? The “Crusades,” for one.
The “Inquisition,” for another. I'm not saying they were right or
wrong, but they did what they had to do under the conditions extant
then, to protect their religion. Waterboarding is nothing like that.
Yes, it's uncomfortable. But it doesn't leave any permanent injuries
or scars. And it's NOTHING like what Islamic terrorists do to their
prisoners. They look upon us as WIMPS because we try to treat them
better than they do us. They delight in BEHEADING innocent people who
have done them no wrong, and they do it in front of cameras so they
can “throw it in our faces.” And the fools running our government
shrink at waterboarding? Yes, waterboarding can get wrong
information. But it can get GOOD information, too. I'm not suggesting
we start beheading them. Although the temptation to treat them the
same way they treat us is strong. And waterboarding, as “torture,”
is “wimpy” compared to what they do to their prisoners. (Doug Giles)
