"They'd Be There Stopping It"

“Let's also stipulate, as T. Boone Pickens said on Larry King Live last night, if anyone knew how to stop this thing, they'd be in there doing it.” But they aren’t, because Obama won’t let them. There have been several offers from people with PROVEN methods of stopping such things as the Gulf oil spill and they have been refused, for various reasons. In one case an offer came from a foreign country that has been dealing with such deep-water spills for years, but it was refused because of a 1920 law (The Jones Act) enacted to PROTECT mariners. One that can be waived in an emergency, and which WAS waived by Obama’s chief object of blame, George Bush. In another case, Obama just didn’t know about a supply of oil blocking booms stored in a warehouse—mostly because he wasn’t TOLD about them. “Then, let's stipulate that no one in U.S. Government - the Congress or the Administration - provided any oversight to the oil companies as they set about drilling deeper and deeper wells, with less and less technology or engineering data to support it.” They didn’t “provide oversight” because they were paid off. “Business as usual” in Washington.
