"Protective Stupidity"

It’s setting in here. Which is an indicator of just what kind of a president we’ve elected. In George Orwell’s prophetic novel, “1984,” he called it “protective stupidity:” "Crimestop means the faculty of stopping short, as though by instinct, at the threshold of any dangerous thought. It includes the power of not grasping analogies, of failing to perceive logical errors, of misunderstanding the simplest arguments if they are inimical to Ingsoc (English Socialism there, or simply what the government wants you to think here) and of being bored or repelled by any train of thought which is capable of leading in a 'heretical' direction. Crimestop means, in short, protective stupidity." When people start doing that, we’re in mortal danger of losing our right to speak out against a bad government. (World Net Daily)
