Minimum Wage Equals No Jobs

Mostly for teenagers looking for "summer jobs," but for everybody, too. We can't keep paying wages that are more than some people are worth. The employers just stop offering low-wage jobs, period. They just require more of the ones they have. "One of the prime reasons for this drastic employment drought is the mandated wage hikes that policymakers have forced down the throats of local businesses. Economic research has shown time and again that increasing the minimum wage destroys jobs for low-skilled workers while doing little to address poverty. According to economist David Neumark of the University of California at Irvine, for every 10 percent increase in the minimum wage, employment for high school dropouts and young black adults and teenagers falls by 8.5 percent. In the past 11 months alone, the United States’ minimum wage has increased by more than twice that amount." This is indisputable. Yet the liberals keep insisting on increasing the minimum wage, which only increases wage demands, period. And higher wages for those not worth it simply cause the employer to cut those jobs. Bull Cutter - unemployment is up but when I look at all the high paying jobs online (& yes low paying too) I just cant help but think many people dont realize the number of employers hiring and the salaries they are offering...not minimum wage either:

Richard: You're right. The "unemployment figures" people talk about are those only looked at by liberals. Those "low-paying jobs" are the ones most teens think themselves "too good for" and the higher paying ones require knowledge and skills they don't have. Many teens purposely make themselves look too strange for people to hire, and they only apply for the jobs to please their parents. My own grandson is experimenting with a "Goth" image. But he screwed up and got hired anyway. Maybe because his father works the same place. I've seen many "help wanted" signs, too. But many teens just don't want those jobs and the liberals ignore their reasons. Of course, many of those "job opportunities" offered on those web sites you showed are scams to get money out of applicants. Some aren't, I'll admit. But you have to be very careful.
