Post Office Going Broke

And they don’t understand why. They seem not able to figure out that the rise of e-mail has eaten seriously into first class mail and that they should do something to make it easier and cheaper for mass mailers (their biggest cash customers) to send out mail; even small mass mailers. Or lower other rates to create more mail? I remember when they had a third class mail that cost exactly the same as regular first class mail, and only required it be marked “Third Class Mail” to let you mail twice as much for the same money. They quietly eliminated that a few years ago and lost a lot of business in the small mail order field. Nobody but us small mail order dealers noticed. There is no telling how many other things they did to “run away business” along the way. Now they’re doing their usual thing, raising rates while cutting back service. They’re the “buggy whip manufacturer” of today and they don’t even know it. (Just common sense)

I actually wrote them and told them they have priced themselves right out of business. I was probably the very last to pay my bills on-line. I do not like doing business and passing money on-line. But their stamps are so expensive now that even I pay my bills on-line now. I remember back when they periodically raised the price of 1st class stamps just because they could. They really did not need to, they just were greedy. Now that they actually might need to because of gas prices they are already at the top of what people are willing to pay. So now they want to eliminate Saturday delivery, leaving us yet again paying more and more for less and less.

Anon: Do you think anybody paid any attention?

Of course not. Now outwardly, anyway. However, they could not have helped but feel a well-deserved twinge when hit with the truth, no matter how much they deny it. It would be a physical/gut reaction that cannot be controlled. The truth is like a very sharp knife.
