Obama is always on about this, and that should be very instructive, since “income redistribution” is a basic tenet of communism, socialism, and their parent, collectivism. Income redistribution is TAKING income EARNED by those capable and willing to earn for themselves, and GIVING that taken (stolen) to those unable or unwilling to earn for themselves. Now, this might be okay for people UNable to earn for themselves due to injury or handicap. But liberals include able-bodied people who just WON’T earn for themselves in the list of those to whom that stolen is GIVEN. The only recognizable “demand” on the earnings of those who DO earn is that the recipient have a sufficient NEED, making NEED a DEMAND on the earnings of others. This is THEFT in any man’s language, except for liberals. If you want to keep more of what you earn, liberals call you selfish.
It is NOT selfish to want to keep what you earn. That’s why you work. If you could not keep what you earn and use it for your own purposes, where’s the incentive to work? That’s key. Collectivism (socialism and all its other names meaning basically the same thing) destroys incentive and thus reduces productivity generally. Reducing productivity gives us less to sell to others at a profit. Profit is the “lifeblood” of commerce. Even communist countries must make a profit when selling products to other countries, otherwise, why bother? If people know their income will be given to others, they will not work as hard. I am Middle-Class. My income gets distributed to others, but none ever comes in my direction. Additionally, even though I am not in upside down in my house, can definitely afford my house, have made no poor decisions or playED games to get into my hous, and have it paid down to less than $50,000, when the banking industry gets finished foreclosing on all the people who ARE upside down in their houses because of loans they could never afford that will PUT me upside down in my house because the value will have dropped to less than I owe. So yeah! WHERE'S THE INCENTIVE TO WORK, TO STRUGGLE, TO TRY?????
Anon: That's the way it always works with liberals. The "redistribution" is of YOUR money, AWAY from you, and never back TO you. The term, "redistribution of wealth," sounds good, but it is really stealing from those who EARN it, and GIVING to those who do not.
