It's "Slipping Away"
Benjamin Franklin once said, in answer to a question about what we now have as he left the Continental Congress, that had just signed the Constitution, “A republic, if you can keep it.” Well, we DID manage to “keep it” for a little more than 200 years. Then Congress and the people found out they could vote themselves goodies at the expense of others and the whole thing started to go to hell in a handbasket. Now you can’t get elected unless you promise the voters whatever they want, and it doesn’t matter WHO has to pay for it. So your “republic is “slipping away” and unless the voters stop voting themselves goodies at the expense of others, it will soon be gone, and Obama (or somebody like him) will be king.
