Blocking Citizen's Rights
"Last year, a group called Fed Up With Taxes put the so-called Dirigo Drink Tax to a vote of the people. In November, Mainers voted to repeal the legislature's tax. Some politicians don't much like uppity voters having government their way. So they want to declare an emergency." They want everybody who introduces such things to be registered voters. Of course, that’s not their goal; it’s just an excuse. What they want to do is stop citizens from overruling them. Politicians just don’t like those who elected them to tell them what to do.
